I study how people think, learn, and retain agency while working with AI.

My primary work examines AI engagement: when people hand off their judgment, when they collaborate well, and what helps them stay intellectually active. A second research program focuses on information privacy and the real-world consequences of technology policy.

01 · The work

One program, several forms of impact.

Research supplies the evidence. Teaching tests how ideas travel. Tools make them useful. Speaking brings the work into live decisions.

02 · Tools

Research tools, not just research claims.

These working systems let people inspect AI engagement, privacy language, enforcement activity, and academic choices for themselves.

03 · Research into public impact

From testing privacy promises to stronger Utah law.

A multiyear investigation commissioned by the Utah State Board of Education compared what widely used education apps promised with what they actually collected and shared. The findings helped lead Utah lawmakers to pass HB55, strengthening privacy terms, audit rights, and remedies when education-technology vendors do not comply.

04 · Speaking and workshops

Help people move from using AI to engaging with it deliberately.

Keynotes, workshops, research seminars, curriculum sessions, and conversations grounded in evidence rather than hype.

Recent speaking · Summer 2026

More than a dozen talks and webinars for technology startups, nonprofit organizations, established corporations, universities, and professional communities.
